The Prodigal Public House, nestled at 25 E 26th St in Minneapolis, is a gem that captures the essence of an authentic Irish pub. Frequent patrons sing praises of its unassuming charm and spirited ambiance. The heart of this establishment beats through its vast collection of whiskies and thoughtful beer selections. Highlights from the menu include their celebrated pot pies—whether you opt for the cheeseburger or choose the veggie version, expect comfort in every bite. The fish and chips have also garnered attention, making it a must-try. Sweet potato fries received mixed feedback; while praised for their taste, the dips fell short for some diners. Still, the delightful atmosphere, bolstered by friendly staff who offer excellent recommendations, makes every visit memorable. Guests often mention the communal vibe, which is reminiscent of crossing paths with old friends, inviting conversation among strangers—a true hallmark of a welcoming pub. With a menu that satisfies cravings and a drinks list that keeps spirits high, The Prodigal Public House is not just a bar and grill; it’s a sanctuary for community and camaraderie. Whether it's your first or fiftieth visit, you're bound to leave with a smile and a story.

Unassuming old fashioned pub with a great whisky and scotch collection. Staff are friendly, there’s free popcorn, and the menu is solid. Great addition to Eat Street. We tried the sweet potato fries, which were excellent, but the dips were disappointing. If they improve them I would eat those all the time ...

Love The Prodigal. Come for the classic Irish pub ambiance, stay for the whisky, thoughtful selection of draft beer, fish & chips, and good conversation with regulars. My last visit I switched from my go-to plate and got the beef pot pie - ordered well-done at the recommendation of the guy at the next table - and it was great. The dry rub wings were a good choice, too.

Lively but quaint Irish or British pub. It felt like being back in Ireland. The energy was so much fun. Madison was greet behind the bar and made excellent food recommendations. Check it out!

The love is palpable here- and the Guiness, pot pies and flat bread all support that vibe. The walls tell a myriad of stories and evoke so many memories. Thank you, Governor Jeff, for putting so much heart into your pub!

I experienced my first visit to The Prodigal Public House this afternoon. If you have not been there it is a quaint, welcoming, smallish in size but big on atmosphere place where you will feel right at home. Much like a pub you would stumble upon in Ireland or the UK. It's almost like going over to a friend's house for drinks. Except here, your friends are the owners themselves and the other customers that talk amongst themselves like they've known each other forever. The food was excellent, and selection of scotch & whiskey is vast. Lots of other libations available also. If you are in the Whittier neighborhood (one block from the Black Forest Inn) don't pass up the chance to visit this little gem!

The Prodigal Pub is truly a gem in the Twin Cities. It has a fun bar up front, then you walk thru a tall narrow hallway - that feels and looks just like pubs in Ireland- and there's a cozy living room in back. I love the wall decor, cute mix-matched antique furniture and feel of the back room. It's by far one of most authentic Irish pubs in MN!

The Prodigal Pub is my Cheers bar. Even when someone is new to the place you instantly feel like family. And this isn't the kind of family you are born into, more like the kind of family you've deserved all along. The staff and the patrons are all so warm and welcoming. And fun! You feel right at home when you walk in the door. Like the friendliest UK pub you've ever been to. Great tap beers and cocktails. The pot pies are to die for. And if you're having a rough day just pull up a bar stool at the Prodigal and let the Prodigal family cheer you up. Tell them Keith sent you...

The prodigal perfectly encapsulates an authentic Irish pub that is still uniquely Minnesotan. The owners are great and they pour a mad pint of Guinness. Food should not be ignored either. All in all this bar fires on all cylinders and scratches an itch not commonly satisfied in the twin cities area.
